Weston
Playhouse Awarded Grant from the Chittenden Community
Fund
(Weston, VT) --- The
Weston Playhouse Theatre Company has received a grant
from the Chittenden Community Fund in support of its
2008 School Matinee program. The $1,500 grant will help
subsidize the deeply discounted $8 ticket price that
will be offered to students for this fall’s WPTC
production of Shakespeare’s classic comedy, AS
YOU LIKE IT.
"We are pleased and honored to receive this latest
grant from the Chittenden Community Fund" commented
WPTC Education Director Lauryn Axelrod. "Our School
Matinee program is vital to bringing the excitement
of live, professional theatre to young audiences throughout
the state and beyond."
The WPTC has received funding from Chittenden Bank most
every year since 1991. This latest grant will support
six School Matinee performances in Weston that we anticipate
to reach over 1,800 elementary, middle and high school
students from throughout Vermont and beyond. The WPTC
School Matinee program began in 1995 with 2 performances
for 240 students from 6 schools and has grown consistently
throughout its 13 year history.
