Weston Playhouse Awarded Grant from the Vermont Arts Council

(Weston, VT) --- The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company has received a generous grant from the Vermont Arts Council in support of its 2008 Education and Outreach programs. The $7,000 grant, the largest that the Council awards, will help fund such programs as the annual statewide Teacher’s Workshop, School Matinee performances of Shakespeare’s AS YOU LIKE IT, the annual Young Company family production, in-school residencies, access services and the Stage Door program.

"We are pleased and honored to receive this latest grant from the Vermont Arts Council," commented WPTC Education Director Lauryn Axelrod.  "Our Education and Outreach programs are vital to reaching vast audiences throughout the state and beyond."

The WPTC has received VAC funding in support of its Education and Outreach programs every year since 2000. This latest grant will support all of the 2008 educational activities that look to reach over 15,000 people of all ages.

For further information about the Education and Outreach programs and the Playhouse’s 72nd season, visit the theatre’s website at www.westonplayhouse.org.

The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company is a non-profit organization supported in part by funds from the Vermont Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and an ever-growing family of individuals, corporations and foundations who believe in the impact that the performing arts can have on its community.
