Sundays are for Downton Abbey. Thursdays, for Weston 101.

Sundays are for Downton Abbey. But if you miss it, what do you do? You stream it later. And you can stream Weston 101, our new behind the scenes theatre program, too!

As Weston’s new Director of Education and Outreach, so much of what’s happening at the Playhouse excites me. And even though the summer is our busiest time of year, we have many wonderful things going on right now that you need to know about! Our Young Playwrights Project is underway, the New Musical Awards are a little over three weeks away, and our newest program, Weston 101, launches on February 11!

Weston 101 is a series of six classes centered on our summer shows, with three unique ways to participate. You can attend the live classes in person at Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester or, if you’re not in the area for the winter months, you can stream the classes to your home computer. If you subscribe but have a scheduling conflict arise, not to worry! We’ll archive each class and provide you with exclusive video links so you can catch up on any of the six sessions at a time that’s convenient for you.

We want to make engaging with our Weston family as easy as possible during the off-season, and this definitely fits the bill. If you can’t attend in person, you can explore the text of All My Sons while in your pajamas on a Sunday morning, or learn about the music from your youth that inspired Forever while the kids are asleep.

Led by Producing Artistic Director Steve Stettler, and joined by special guests like Dael Orlandersmith and Michael Berresse, the 90-minute classes will brighten up your February, liven up your March, combat the mud of April, and get you ready to more fully enjoy our offering of shows this summer.  Learn about inspirations for the texts, hear the songs of ABBA and how a “jukebox musical” is born, see what will be unique to our production of Round and Round the Garden, and much more! And to further the Weston 101 experience, we invite you to join other Weston 101 participants on Sunday July 3rd for a talkback and backstage tour with actors from Man of La Mancha.
