A Pre-Season Primer

The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company’s Weston 101 will be back for its fourth year to prime theatregoers for the 2019 season. Hosted by Weston Artistic Associate/Education Coordinator Rachel Liff, this pre-season backstage pass is a multi-media event series taking you behind the scenes and more!

Live Engagement Events

Join us on Wednesday, March 20th at 7:00pm for a screening of the Oklahoma! episode of critically acclaimed PBS docu-series Broadway: The American Musical. Julie Andrews narrates this hour-long investigation into the life and legacy of Broadway’s most influential composing duo: Rodgers and Hammerstein. The film will be followed by a Q & A with Weston Executive Artistic Director, Susanna Gellert.

Join us on Wednesday, April 10th at 7:00pm for a screening of The Thomashefskys: Music and Memories of a Life in the Yiddish Theater. Composer Michael Tilson Thomas and four world-class opera singers guide the audience through the story of how Thomas’ grandparents, Boris and Bessie Tomashefsky, immigrated to the United States, rose to fame, and altered the landscape of the American theatre. This film will offer insight into Yiddish theatre and culture in advance of the fall production of Indecent. It will be followed by a discussion with Artistic Associate, Rachel Liff.

Both of these events are free of charge. Donations to benefit Education at the Weston Playhouse will be accepted at the door and are greatly appreciated.
